He is married to his wife Jaymi Lynn, and is now the proud father
of two beautiful and energetic little girls and one boy. Jay Brashear, OTR/L, MOT
Jay is a graduate from Texas Women’s University
in 1999 with a Masters Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Out of high school I was a cook. Although it was only supposed to be temporary,
I did that for 13 years. In 1986 through a friend I landed a job in a
life skills center working with teenagers with special needs.
Originally, the job appealed to me because of weekends and holidays off
but I very shortly fell so in love with what the job really was,
I could have done it on weekends and holidays as well. The only
drawback was the job would never amount to any kind of meaningful
salary but I loved the content. Soon I knew what had to be done:
a college degree.
I gathered up what college credit I had at that point and headed
up to Northern Arizona University with the intentions of becoming
a Physical Therapist. I completed my undergrad & began applying to programs.
During this time I was working as a Physical/Occupational Therapy
tech at various hospitals which was helping me to realize that I
loved working with people, helping me to see what PT and OT were
about and helping keep my eye on the prize: a degree.
After attending Texas Women’s University, I was blessed to find my first
job in Show Low, AZ. From there I was able to gain
experience as a clinician and I found
myself working in home health, skilled nursing facilities and some
pediatrics. I am again working in Show Low and loving it.
I am married to the greatest woman on the planet and have two
beautiful boys.
